Can someone please tell me how many litres of oil a 300tdi takes inc oil filter ?
The oil filter on mine has nothing written in English ...everything is in German 8O and if someone could please tell me the oil filter part number ?
I have 20 lts of oil in the shed and seeing how it's grounded with the power steering leak may as well drop the engine oil for something to do
thanx in advance

Take a two litre plastic milk container with the base cut off and after you have loosened the filter place the container around the filter and continue to undo by hand. The oil will spill into the container....dont forget to put the lid on the container  .

PLUG (http://www.difflock.com/cgi-bin/wm10/wm10_02606/st/ws20_9800/main/browse.cgi?final_pick=y&cust_cat=Drainplug@@@Land-Rover&cat_cat_max=&cust_id=2C2P1CO45C2P1CO45&in_store=5001&cust_cat_index=8&pick_flag=y&setup_value=1&cleanup=n&item_id=DF45_2)
But it doesn't work on the filter https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
It's the trickle of warm oil down the right arm lying prone on cold concrete that gives me "tom tits" and those square plastic sump oil pans  Must get a circular plastic one...hang the expense

Just get a 20L plastic drum drum and cut the side out of it. That way you can pour the old oil into a waste container through the original screw cap hole.
No Mess 8)

worst job is the rear sedimentor on the Tdi - I refuse to break the little plastic tap, so use a 11mm spanner and take the complete bowl off for a good clean out.
I did this yesterday and got the diesel running down my arm onto my chest!!!

the thread is 5/16 UNC. I replaced mine with a stainless socket head cap screw I had sitting on the shelf (it was supposed to be for the extractors on the race car...)

Hey guys - has anyone had any experience with those cool looking oil drain gizmos? Can they get trashed if you are in the muck off road?
What are they worth?
Cheers,
Cameron
