I had my MY17 in for some warranty items (rear spoiler impinging on paintwork; engine cover paint peel amongts them); nothing serious. Anyway, had Apple Car Play added for free at Australs Brisbane. Works well - I like how text messages can be received and sent verbally. Worth upgrading if you service your car at a dealer.
cheers

Was that the MY18 upgrade that was applied?

Does anyone know if this upgrade can be added to earlier years. I have a MY15 for example.

Only aftermarket kits, nothing factory.

Can Apple Carplay be added to all MY17's?
and is it wireless or does the phone have to be connected via USB cable?

Yes.... but....
Just to be clear, 2017MY L405 has InControl Touch Pro, with widescreen, there are HEAPS of 2016 & 2016.5 MY L405's being passed off as 2017's when they aren't..
And those 2016/2016.5 have the older IAM2.1 system, for which there is only the aftermarket solution for Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.
Now, not all 2017MY L405 have the required hardware for factory Smartphone Pack.
If the input panel in the armrest only has two USB (no HDMI or SIM), then the dealers can't turn it on.
But for those cars I can retrofit the panel, and enable the Smartphone Pack in the software.
Factory Smartphone Pack is wired only, no wireless.
