All the stub axles I'm reclaiming have issues with the spacer collar that the oil seal runs on

Is it this easy for a Muppet like me and how do I install new collars?
147915
Or is it easier to go with a Ezi Sleeve cure which was on one but a bit worn

Never done one, but I’m the sort of person that would have a crack. If new ones are readily available, I’d go for it.

Thanks for advice would it be fair to say all series 2a have this removable collar including series 3.
Sure I saw a reference some where that only early models had this feature if so how do you tell the difference

Recently did one 'in situ' on Wallit.
Grinding - Difficult to access so you need something like a Dremel and a number of cutting discs.
Removal - Should be able to split it with a chisel but....mine was soft so it spread rather than cracked. Eventually loose enough to remove.
Fitting - Would have been a lot easier off the vehicle on a press !
Isuzu C240 powered Series 3 (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/other-powered-series-land-rovers/151959-isuzu-c240-powered-series-3-a-post2857613.html#post2857613)
I think next time I'd try drilling rather than grinding, of course the next one will be dead hard and blunt the drill.
The only way you'd tell if it had a collar was by close inspection to see if you can see a join. I wasn't aware that some might not have the removable collar which if correct would be a cost saving exercise by LR.

Replaceable collars stopped some time in S3 production. (From the parts book, looks like June 1980 for 88, July 1980 for 109)
But be aware that the stub axle, or indeed the whole axle, may not be what your Landrover left the factory with!

Yours looks like a flange with replaceable collar. A one-piece flange has got a small machined rounded corner. I can put up a picture of a one-piece if absolutely neccesary.

I Did mine.
Easy, drilled collar, cold chisel, cracked collar. Just slid off.
Some sealant on stub axle, tapped on with piece of pipe.

I found that the hub nut box spanner makes a perfect drift for a new collar, most dropped on nicely with a bit of heat but a few needed gentle seating with a press.

To get an even heat on the new collar, warm it in engine oil heated to below the smoke point in an old electric frying pan. I use this method when installing bearings too.
