First post so I hope someone can answer .... https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

What's the best way to get at the reversing light switch on a '96 manual Tdi disco - go down through the top ( removing the gearstick boot etc ) or go from underneath.

I had a look from underneath - I think I can see it up there but can't reach it.

My reversing lights don't work at all - I suspect the switch. Could it be anything else ?

unplug the switch then get a jumper wire and put this in the plug going to the lights if they work then it could be the switch (may be a worn detent or shaft)

G'Day mate

Go down through the top

an you can use a meter to test the switch, bugger of a thing to get at from underneath

hope this helps

you might be better getting at it from the other end. check the lights first and work backwards. you may find it's a broken wire or a bad earth.
