I bought a generic Mongoose Cable off eBay with SDD 154 and plugged it into my 2016 RRS. Had a bit of a look around and now my Lane Departure warning message comes up constantly. I have tried clearing all error codes etc but it remains... any advise?

Took it to the dealer today but they were useless

...even with LDW disabled via the switch?

Edit: Something must have been changed. Have you inadvertently disabled the camera or something similar?

Yes, the switch does nothing. Also, the tick box has disappeared from the instrument cluster.

I think the obd cable is no good. As soon as I plug it in all the systems shutdown, ie abs, stability, suspension control, park assist. Assume that is not normal?

I suggest you try to contact forum user "Cambo" via PM to see if he can help. He is based in Sydney but he may well be able to point you in the right direction.

That is definitely not good...

I can't find the bulletin in my files, but there was an official statement a couple of years back from JLR that the Drewtech Mongoose was no longer an approved interface and should not be used on MY16-onward vehicles, there was specific mention of the L405 and L494 as "forbidden to use". So that goes double for Chinese clone interfaces, which are risky enough at the best of times. Clones are bad news, it's never a good idea to plug a $50 knock-off device into a $150k car...

From what you describe the Mongoose is spiking the CAN networks in the car as soon as it is plugged in. It may have damaged some modules, it may have just knocked them off-line. The first thing you should do is throw that junk in the bin. The second thing is to disconnect the battery from the car, let it sit for a while (20 mins), then reconnect the battery, and hopefully the power outage is enough to reset everything. This is also known as a "hard reset".

If that doesn't fix it then the dealer should try a "Special Functions - Vehicle Reset" using a proper SDD or Pathfinder tool. This resets each of the CAN networks in the car, like Ctrl-Alt-Del style re-boot.

And if that doesn't fix it it.... :no2:

Thanks Cambo. Yes I disconnected the battery for 30mins on the weekend with no success. I have performed the Special Functions "vehicle reset" a couple of times with the ebay Mongoose which functioned ok (while still spiking/killing the network) but did not resolve the issue. I have ordered a iid bt tool, do you think that may have any better results?

Do you know what modules are involved with the ldw?

Do the modules just die? Apprieciate your help!!

Unfortunately it resets but keeps coming back on a restart.. the fault is within the IPMB CAMERA. The fault is U0447-29 (28) Invalid data received from gateway A - general signal failure - signal is invalid.

The fault is- Camera control module power circuit short circuit to power

Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the camera control
module power circuit for short circuit to power

Any ideas on where to start with that?

From the MY14 WSM -
The CCM is located in the passenger compartment, behind the rear left seat bolster trim panel, under the GPSM module.

Not sure if that is still the case on MY16, but maybe it is not too difficult to get to for checking power or to replace if required.

Did you manage to get the thing fixed?

Did you go to an actual LAND ROVER dealer and get it reset via their tool?

I was looking at getting a diagnostics tool and luckily I found this thread, no mongoose. Where do the L494 guys buy their tools? Apart from going to the dealer [bigwhistle]

Pull the camera cover off and use a multi meter.

Find some schematics for the RRS.. If do you get some post it up for me too

Was there a resolution to this issue? I have the exact same problem on my 2016 RRS Td6 3.0 HSE.
