2010 RRS Qs

Looked at a 2010 RRS today with 70000ks on it one owner.

Need advice.

Is 20000k oil changes normal or good/bad for a tdv6 3l? Seems too much to me and the oil was black.

Also what causes the transfer case to weep oil?

Belts have not been done . He says not needed until 160000. Is this right?

Sure went well but he wants 37k which maybe too risky given the service intervals oil leak belts and rashed wheels ?

20,000k is factory service interval I think. Some say it should be more frequent.

For the 3.0 litre diesel, it's 7 years or ~160,000k whichever is first I believe. It's a body off job but some claim (including some dealers) they can do it with the body on.

Body on belts, and how did you see the oil??? No dipstick in the 3.0...

Oil seen thru filler cap..stuck my finger in and it was black. ..service @ 20000 is due so I have since learnt.

Any views on the tcase leak..is it common?

Black oil is evident even after 1500km from an oil change, and what is the leak, between the halves of the case? Or an output seal? They are comparing to any lt230, a very expensive leak to repair....

Oil seen thru filler cap..stuck my finger in and it was black.

Its a diesel, oil is black as soon as you start the engine.

Tc Leak seems to be between the halves ie not front or back. Car is up north and was bought new for 120 k from Buckby but he has scrimped on servicing and repairs getting it done elsewhere cause Buckby were too expensive. He's Scottish like my wife. ..say no more☺

My oil in the Td5 is not black/finger staining and it's due for a service now!

Anyhow he's allegedly now traded it on a JEEP FCSake!! For 34k - mmm...wonder if that's Scotch mist😎

No great loss so I'll hang out for a V8 now🙄
