My new second hand discovery 4 first sold new in January 2015 just clocked up 55000ks and indicated it needed a service. The book tells me to use different oils depending on whether it has DPF or not!! Is that something that I can physically see and where should I look?
Not always near a dealer I would also like to buy a reader that would tell me the basic things that need doing at various service intervals. What do I need and where can I purchase it for $$
We note that there is a change in the law coming that mechanics will be able to carry out routine services on all vehicles with out effecting the warranty. Great but will LR tell you what is required in each service?? the hand book is certainly light on information!
Its a great vehicle and really enjoying the ride.

You can tell by the VIN - see this post (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/150379-dpf.html#post1681008)

Have a look underneath the car where the exhaust comes from the engine bay around the front passenger seat area, that is where the DPF will be. But I doubt yours will have one fitted.

There is also a few stickers near the headlight under the bonnet saying DPF or non DPF etc, same with the factory colour

Suggest you do your servicing every 10,000km as well if you don't already. Peace of mind.
