Now this is going in the right direction ...
Plonk one of these on each corner
Strip out all the ICE/gear bags/drivetrain rubbish
A few batteries and controls and voila

I don't understand it, but it sounds interesting.

Similar ideas have surfaced every twenty years or so for at least the last hundred years. The advantages over conventional drive are not all that obvious, even on EVs.

This looks interesting.

Really simple drive train. No transmission. Wheel speed determined by drive rather than drive less brake effect, use of regenerative braking.

I like the idea of a small motor (PHEV) with front wheel drive used with this type of concept or another type of electric hub drive to create a 4wd. The rear electric drive would supplement the small ICE motor on acceleration, and provide drive for optimum traction on and off road situations. All wheels would need to be interchangeable.

It would also overcome the range problem of pure EV.

I doubt "in wheel" motors will ever be practical , especially that Orbis scam. It cant possibly be practical, Each wheel is mounted via 3 pairs of roller-skate sized wheels with tiny axles and bearings, Its unlikely to last the distance of a single charge.
