View Full Version : Awning failure

I've been trying to chase the source of an annoying metallic "clunk" noise that occurred at random intervals and seemed to be coming from somewhere at the back of the 110.
At first I thought it was the bearings in my drawer runners, but I eventually traced it to the awning.
The pop rivets holding the awning material to the metal backing plate have all failed!
Anyone seen this before?
It's not an el cheapo awning, but can't for the life of me remember where/when I got it, but it's at least 3 years old.
I've got a pop rivet gun, so I'll see if I can repair it, or I might resort to some bolts through it.

Both of my awnings failed in the same way on a fishing trip where the wind got up to 40kts+ and I did a temporary repair using tek screws, They are still there more than a year later[thumbsupbig]
Just run the screws through where the rivets were (I added more) and cut the exposed end off Much easier than using nuts and bolts.
