Cooling fan destruction the easy way

Very simple technique really - especially on bush roads. Just remove the cowl and drive normally!

My cowl had been damaged when the last fan decided it didn't want to stay in one piece now it was all grown up. I replaced the fan but didn't get around to repairing the cowl and couldn't find a replacement. Not smart. Got away with it for just over a month (2 trips to town over bush roads) then it picked up a rock, snapped a blade and buggered the top hose. This time, it didn't take half the bonnet out with it.

I suppose the good news is that with the cowl and fan out, it is now much easier to adjust the belts (pre-serp) that were squealing.

Warning - don't drive without the cowl in place!

I'd just fit some falcon fans ... :) Having said that it is so quiet I can now hear I have a tapping valve at idle (I probably need to figure out how to lift the idle by 300rpm. it seems to be idling at about 500rpm).

Yes, I remember doing that before on a different RR. However, having only just replaced the viscous fan coupling on this one and always getting brilliant service from Graeme Cooper's I figure it is best to stay with them as much as possible, even though the fans they supply are after-market.

Also, since I write all of their website content, including the articles, I don't want to engage in more DIY fixes than are absolutely necessary- and I do plenty of those!
