The least exciting question on the forum:

Anyone know of a place that will get all the mud off your LR?

I'm talking about all of the mud.

I go off to that place where you put the coins in the slot and spend more than I want, and get to my last $1 and discover a new hole full of mud.

Haven't got and outdoor hose.

I read about a UK fella who did chassis painting/rustproofing, specialised in LR, and steam cleaned under the car before he painted - 4hrs IIRC.

Something in between, perhaps?

Cheers
Simon

I have a Karcher pressure washer bought at great expense...but of course I can't use it in Sydney due to water restrictions

So may be we could do a deal with one of those hand wash places to use their so called restriction exempt recycled water supply

anybody who does car detailing will do it!!!

I had a guy from cargroomers clean ALL the mud off mine (4 hours solid work) and it only cost $50

when I called him out again he said that if is was as dirty as the last time it would cost $250

The way I figure it is that these days the mud layer protects the car from the damaging effects of infrared radiation due to the depletion of the ozone layer

Hang on :? ....if water is so scarce where do you get the mud from

Dullbird, you were drawn to this thread because of the title and being female.... my three kids saw the thread and ran for the hills!!! 8O

My 3 dishwashers can be used even through times of water restrictions, they just cost lots in running upkeep and whinge a whole lot. :?

All true

I've been guilty of draining the tank to wash the LR.

And then spent another day up the river reconnecting the inlet pipe, 'cos I didn't check before I started washing.

But all of this talk is about mud on the top of the car.

Don't give a rats about that mud, that's what rain is for.

I'm talking about the underneath mud.

The stuff that only comes off if you get down on your knees and stick the pressure washer into all kinds of unpleasant places, or if you stick the LR on top of a sprinkler for a couple of days. And hope that the road out isn't 6" deep in mud so that all the mud is back once you get to the highway.

I'm dreaming of a carwash that has a hole in the ground so you can get underneath and get really messy.

Cheers

Hi Guys
Look in the garden hose fittings section of your local hardware shop.I got a brass hose end with a fine hole, non adjustable for around $6.It just clips onto the hose and gives a powerfull sharp jet, perfect for squirting into holes in the chassis and de-greasing.Blasts mud off almost as good as a pressure cleaner.
I got heaps of beach sand out of BlackBettys chassis yesterday.
