Interesting - but wouldn't doing a conversion like yours cost less than the $60,000 they want for a complete vehicle?
Also, are there really that many old Land Rovers just sitting around in sheds?

I am pretty sure that if you took into account the cost of Goingbush's labor and spread the cost of all the lessons he has learnt over say 10 vehicles, then $60k would seem a reasonable price.

You basically need to factor in a restoration on each vehicle prior to EV conversion.

True, but they're proposing to do this as a business, and I was mainly wondering about the cost of the componentry.
What would a commercial restoration of an old Landy like these cost?

Being a commercial operation I think 50-60k would be on the Money .
If I calculated my Labor at $100 per hour = $10k would be about right , EV componentry for 100km range $20k add another $10K for 200km range , $5k for a typical Series $5k - $10 rejuvenation , certification etc etc
Now the genius behind the Idea vs a typical 4WD rental company , Purchase price vs End Of Life Value of a New 4WD = huge depreciation . There is no End Of Life value for the proposed Electric series vehicles , no reason they will not continue reliably & appreciating in Value for the next millennia .
I hope its a successful venture.

This is very interesting indeed. There have been similar firms that have gone bust, but they were focusing on vintage in general rather than a specific model or manufacturer. This may scale with some efficiencies if they get enough takers.

Are they still going.
I paid for a front axle disc brake conversion they sell back in November,
After lots of back and forth emails , it appeared they cant supply and offered a refund. I took them up on it and gave my bank details for the refund and thats the last I heard from them. No refund and no reply to numerous emails.

Website is still up (although that doesn't mean anything).
Couldn't find a phone number for them, phoning would be best.
I guess they have a Facebook page, they wouldn't appreciate details getting onto social media (give them the opportunity to refund before you do anything on Social media.
Registered letter detailing all the communications so far and asking for the money to be refunded.
Is VCAT another option ?
A solicitors letter might also prompt a response.
Best of luck.
I'm hoping this event doesn't sum up their business dealings in general.....

A few of the parts are from the UK but they say they have designed and made their own hub that does away with the spacer and machining the original one. So I paid the extra.

I hope it does not either. I had high hopes for them and the web site looks professional. I dont know how many they have sold yet.
I have been looking for a phone number too. Finally found one via google. I will give it a go tomorrow.
Just puts me off that they offered the refund and now no communication. Even an email asking for more time or an explanation would have been good.
The disc kit was for the old Forward Control. I have given it a facelift and converted it to a pop top and camper for one, I have put a bigger booster on the front now and will just keep the drums.
Sold the Royal Review and the Tickford and the 6x6 camper is for sale too.

Ouch- Not nice. Push a button or two via VCAT here in Vic We've got some trouble | 404 - Resource not found (https://www.vcat.vic.gov.au/)

Finally got through on the phone.
Received this in reply.
Hi there Keith,
Apologies for the delay in action on this one – but we’ve now refunded your purchase and I believe you should see the $2990 back in your account/on your card tomorrow.
The delays in responding to your emails come from the way our emails for the Online Store were being captured. It’s not a part of our daily routine to check them where they land, hence the long delays in receiving a response. We’re since rectified this, and we aim to avoid the situation moving forward.
Any questions please contact me directly on this email address.
Kindest regards,
Marteen & Dave
So , wait and see what happens.

All good. Refund in the bank this morning.
Perhaps they read AULRO [wink11]
Anyway I wish them all success in their venture and we might see some on the road one day.
Keith
