Electric Exterior Mirror D3

I have a fault with my passenger side Electric Exterior Mirror.
I can get it to move in and out using the Mirror Adjustment Knob but I cannot get it to move up and down.
Pushing the Knob up, causes the Mirror to move outwards. Pushing the Knob down results in no movement.
It also will not lower when reverse is engaged.
This fault was intermittent but now seems permanent.
The drivers Exterior Mirror operates normally.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or no of a fix that doesn’t require full replacement of the mirror? I have searched threads but couldn’t find any reference.

I seem to be having this intermittently as well. Mine eventually starts to work properly. I have observed that it gets stuck on either up and down or sideways when first starting, after a while of driving it starts to work properly. I have not found a fix, just living with it at the moment.

A squirt of silicone spray using the straw on the can in behind the mirror and where it pivots closed when locking works for me.
