Hi members, If this question has been asked before please provide me with the link I did look..... cheers.

I am going to purchase a set of TuffAnt 18” inch Steelies for my D4 2016 (big brake) and would like to put some BFGoodrich mud tires on them. Does anybody have any experience with this what size fit, was there any rubbing in hwy of off-road mode (don’t really care about access mode) or any other issues I should be aware of?

Thanks 149524
Owen

You'd be better off asking in the Pinnacles.

Hi, finally ordered a set off tuffants and i’m torn between getting a solid set of AT’s like the KO2’s vs saving some money and getting a decent road Tyre like pirelli scorpion AT’s as I will be 90% city driving with some occasional beach work. Will be my first time takin it off road so will probably be a while before I get into the heavy stuff. Any suggestions? Would BFG’s be a waste for mostly city driving? Thanks

I have run BFG A/T for the last 20yrs,around town and all over the country, one slow leak from a large Teck screw. They are a very tough tyre.

On the black top, with the D4 they do seem to drone a bit at around 60 to 75km/hr,thats the only issue i know of.

The old KO used to go hard at about 5 yrs old,but the jury is still out on whether the newer KO2 is the same.

90% on road, maybe the Scorpions are the go,and will save some $$.

Thanks, so I got the tuffants late last week and ordered a set of falken wildpeak AT’s but the wheels turned out to be too big for the calipres. Andrew at tuffant is onto it as he reckons the new batch of wheels are slightly bigger so he is getting a few complaints. He’s sending me a new set this week so fingers crossed I get them in time for this weeks camping trip!

As Pauline would say......... please explain............. how wheels can be too big for callipers, usually its the other way round. Wheels won't fit over the brakes.

cheers, DL

After a day of back and forth they decided to give me a different set of wheels that finally fit. They reckon land rovers made in different factories sometimes have different parts. The guys at Tuffant we’re awesome and even drove to the shop twice in one day to help get it fixed and to bring me a 2nd and 3rd set of wheels! Very happy with the outcome!

I've got Tuffants on my list for when I need new rubber. I bought a set of 5 19" Maxxis for the D4 and have to say I'm disappointed in them. 1 Tyre with a different build date from the other 4 got 3 punctures during a recent trip and wore worse as well.
Supplier reckons there's nothing wrong with it and we shouldn't be letting tyres with a low profile 55% aspect ratio down on sand....... so why do they call them "All terrain" tyres then?
I'll get the 18" when these are down a bit more and fit BFGs which we've had with great success on all our previous vehicles.
