So many empty holes in the emergency tool holder on my MY12 D4 TDV6 five seater:

So far I have identified it being deficient of the screw driver. But it seems that the other holes are meant to be empty?
And what is the red plastic thing for? I cannot see any reference to it in the manual or paperwork.

It’s a dust bung for when you remove the tow hitch. Clips up into the hole.

Another gap looks like the (yellow) fuel reset tool just below and to right of jack.

Never got anything like that in my D4. When did they stop making that? I all the bits but they fit in a rear cubby hole on Drivers side inside a roll up bag.

When you don’t have seven seats

Is yours a seven seater? Ours is a five seater so these tools are where I believe seat 6 and 7 would otherwise be.

What is a fuel reset tool?
EDIT: just Googled it, fancy. For anyone needing a replacement, the part number is LR014047.
Screw driver is part number KBH500010.

Top left is for the tow hitch (UK version). With the 7 seater the tools are split over the two rear side compartments.
I'm also missing the fuel reset tool and the hitch receiver blank plate (the red thingy). Should really get them, but to date have never thought to put petrol in instead of diesel...

My fuel reset tool sits in a clip in the top glovebox. That’s how it came. Perhaps they were trying to tell me something [emoji16]

Me too, however I have managed to trip that misfuel device with a jerry can refill, In the middle of the Simpson. I didn’t realise why it was taking sooooooo long at the Mt Dare refill station, until the next refill I noticed the misfuel flap.
Also wives, partners etc have been known to try petrol ....

I was worried about the same thing with my Jerry cans. Turns out the spouts on diesel specific jerry cans (the yellow plastic ones) are a bigger diameter than ones specific for petrol (the red ones) so no risk of tripping the misfuel device ...as long as you use the correct cans.

That makes sense...when I went to buy my Jerries, the place only had the (Red) 10l ones I was after. I also have the diesel (yellow) 20L, but I like carrying a few 10L ones also.

What's meant to go in the blue, green, yellow and red marked spaces?

Yellow = Locking wheel nut ‘key’.

I better check if the vehicle has locking wheel nuts then! So far I haven't had a need to take a wheel off but would be a terrible thing to find in that moment now knowing the key is missing!

None of the D4s I looked at had locking wheel nuts, unlike pretty much every D2 which does/did have locking nuts.
Virtually every UK D4 will have locking nuts, even the spare wheels are stolen fairly regularly in the UK as well.

Yes make sure you have the lock nut remover with you at all times. New a chap years ago had a puncture in the bush and found the tyre fitters hadn't given him his nut remover back! Luckily he was able to stuff the hole with plugs and keep moving.
I suspect getting the lock nut off with the sort of minimal too kit he carried would have been impossible. :(
I don't have them on the D4 and won't bother getting any. When we're away I don't think there's much danger of wheels being nicked and at home we have a good camera system which is fully visible to the light fingered lot. We've seen them come down the driveway to try the Defenders door and when the red floodlights come on it's "Oh ****" (lip reading) and off they go very quickly. :)
