I'm close to that. I didn't realise at the time, but my cousins place was right in the middle of it. I'd have been out there help him fight it had I realised (the fire got within centimeters of his big shed, and very close to the house).

The air tankers saved a lot of houses that day. They have been doing some serious work out our way over the last month or so.

It was interesting watching the adrenalin junkies piloting the helicopters figting a fire in the pine forest just near my place a week back. They would drop the load on the fire then curve down at full speed just beside the fire to the sewerage settling ponds to fill back up (don't worry, it's very clean water out of the sewerage treatment plant).
