Cherry blossoms are out in Washington DC but there has still been ice on the car in the mornings. I was watching the snowflakes on the cockpit windows of the plane from Toronto to DC prior to takeoff last Saturday evening (was in 1A )

Weather bureau in U.K. keep promising snow. Has been doing so since November last year on a regular basis. Kids very disappointed as no sign of the promised white stuff at all and so no days off school. They are questioning the value of the Met due to what they see as false promises. We were supposed to have 15cm of snow last week once again a no show for the snow.

Has been very little snow and what there has been was localised to small areas and melted quickly. A few years ago we had snow a foot deep for 2 months. That is though the exception. Not that this stopped the news from giving it coverage which if you were not there might have made you think otherwise. Everyone likes a photo with snow in it and many are quickly posted.

Who in their right mind would want snow? I have had two brief stints of living in the US mid-West snow belt. In Omaha and Milwaukee. The locals all hate snow except for tourists and winter sport enthusiasts. Snow interferes with almost all aspects of daily life. Great fun getting up in the morning and finding a couple of feet of snow on your drive or your car that has to be cleared before you can go out. Getting to work and can't get home as the County has closed all roads due to a snow storm. Black ice on the roads is great fun also.
