I'd not go after what's recommended by those who want to sell oil. The recommendation in the workshop manual for The D2's R380 is Texaco MTF94(which is similar to 75w80) or Dexron III so IMO get something which is within one of those specs

I can add that the Penrite syn is excellent shifting oil for the R380. 75-85 is for gearbox (2.67 litres in my case with stock oil cooler) and I use Penrite 75-90 is centre diff and differentials. Both Pro Gear Oil Full Synthetic. Cheers

I don't like VMX in the R380, the shifting isn't optimal.
Get Syntrans 75w-85 or the Penrite mentioned above.
But I bet a bike store has Motul Gear 300 on the shelf. [emoji6]

Penrith make a 75-90 gl4 would this be better then a 75-85 both are fully synthetic although the75-90 has a significant price mark up over the 75-85 both are gl4 oils .

Mate I stuck with the spec so 75/85 in Penrite Pro Gear Oil. My R380 is 350,000 and shifts like new (well not quite as tight but very nice). The shift quality is excellent cold and hot.
Cheers
