So I bought some front mudflaps and brackets, but when I looked, it wasn't clear how best to mount them.
So I looked at a Defender on the Queen Mary Falls weekend trip, thanks for that, but I'm still unsure if that is the best way.
So, if you have a Defender with front mudflaps, is there any chance you could post a pic and help to clear up my confusion? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Seriously, I've just spent an hour fiddling and I'm blowed if I can see a practical way to do it.

You must have brought the same fronts as me, buggered if I could see where they logically sat using existing jokes/hardware.

Think mine are still in a garage....or did I give them away.

I just took these pics for you.... hope it helps

1st pic is the rear of the mount, 2nd is the front.

Good luck.

Ummmm.... looking at that again, I think its mounted on my rockslider front support bar...sorry about that.

From memory, I think the chassis cross member just above the support bar had captive nuts that the front flap bolted to.

The standard mounting position is useless. Mud still sprays up the side of the vehicle.

Unless you can modify and mount right up against the back of the wheel arch, I wouldn’t bother Mick.

Thanks all for those comments and pics, I'll have another look tomorrow.
I have sidesteps, so it doesn't look quite the same.
I have seen the Glyn Lewis extended brackets advertised, so that's another option.
I might have to hit up the daughter's partner to improvise something at his work.
