Will this even work?
its not foolproof,, [bighmmm]

the other end of the (I gather) fibre optic cable is in a sound blaster Z,,
I have also tested in the spidf outlet on the motherboard,,
zilch noise so far,, though the headphones work fine...

on a lot of them, spdif is only passthru.....

spdif can be a PIA getting the cable to sit fully engaged on some devices so make sure is all the way home at both ends...

I do get a nice click out of both ends,, and the little green light says 2 channel, so somethings working...

there is a small switch on the left that has "Pass" and "2 Channel" options,, in either I still get that green light,, ???
