Picking up a set of 18” steel rims this week.
Wondered what Muddies folks are using in 18”.
Options are limited and I see KM3 come in 265/60/18....on BFG website, but tyre shops not seem to have caught on yet.

Cheers

Whatever you do don't go with Bridgestone Mud Tyres.

Have you looked at maybe Maxxis, Kumho, Mickey Thompson, Yokohama, Toyo, over the years on various vehicles I've had these brands and apart from the Bridgestone Muds they have been good, word of warning Maxxis can be noisy but they are a good tyre.

So...what’s wrong with BFG mud tyres?

Nothing - they're great! I'm on my third set. ;)

Nothing wrong with the tyre just availability I'm assuming from the OPs comment.

Only when I did an internet search for the KM3 265/60/r18 - most online tyre places didn’t pick this size...I’m assuming it’s because it’s a new tyre...

Mud tyres seem quite limited in this size. 275/65r18 seems more popular, but I think this is slightly oversize...

Yes I think it will be like this for a while until 18s become more used on 4WD and demand is higher, it was like this with 17s until the Japanese 4Bs starting using 17s on there range of cars.

Kumho do a MT51 in 265/60/18 if BFG KM3s aren't available yet, they are a good tyre.

275/65/18 might rub and are about the limit for a D4

Just an update on this.....(for those looking for 18” Mud Tyres)
A phone call to BFG yesterday confirmed that 265/60/18 KM3 Mud Tyres are in transit to Aus with an ETA at the end of May19.
I’ll be running my D697s for a while now...

I have used Khumo MT KL71s before (not on my current vehicle). Great tyres for pretty much everything. Amazingly quiet on road (below 100 km/hr at least) for such an aggressive tread. High load rating and tough side walls have withstood all kinds of off road punishment with barely a shrug. You can lower the pressures with confidence, and they have gripped in everything from super soft sand to mud with ease. Never tried them in snow, but I imagine would be OK there too.

Not a highway performance tyre, of course, but driven within their obvious limitations, they are great.

Would have them again in a heart beat.

Thanks. I did look at these, but I have 18” Rims...this tyre not available in this size apparently.

Fair call. Mine were 17s. Even have them on my box trailer - overkill? [thumbsupbig]
