Hi all the Macanic telling me I probably have a warn camshaft not getting enough air in when opening as everyone here would have heard before. It's a 91 3.5 discovery1 with 210000on the clock my question is could you sling a turbo under the hood to force enough air in instead of doing a cam change

You could but the cam would keep wearing. It'd also be cheaper to change the cam.

...............and here I was thinking Warn had started making cams as well as winches when I saw the thread title. [wink11]

If the camshaft is that worn it is likely the rest of the engine is also. Pull the engine and do a rebuild. Save yourself a lot of grief in the long run. Take into account the value of the vehicle. Is it worth spending several gorillas for a professional rebuild.

Have you checked the valve opening? Get a dial indicator and a mag base and gauge the opening of each valve.

The cams on these are made of cheese sticks, new cam and lifters will do wonders as would a low mileage 3.9.
