DIY metal pan

Hello All
i am looking at doing the metal pan change over for my 6 speed 2011 D4 it hasn't been done 100,000km , i have been online and it doesn't look to be too difficult the only question i have is there a method for getting almost all the old oil out as it looks that if you drain it only about 4 litres comes out. or should i just empty what i can then in 10000km do it again and refill with new oil.
any help who has done it would be really appreciated funds are tight and i cant afford the $950.00 i have been quoted to get it done with a full flush.

You can diy flush.Swap pan and fill with fresh fluid, undo cooler line at radiator and attach hose from outlet to a graduated clear container, run engine till measured old fluid comes out then refill the pan. Do this 2-3 times.
Ideally a spotter is required to check the outlet oil level so engine can be shut off.

can be done using that method but the 3 litre needs to have the line removed at the ( separate ) trans cooler

Easy to do, you will need to jack up the transmission, remove cross member in order to clear the pan from the transmission, and to get the steel pan back in.

I drained mine, when still warm, left it overnight and managed to get most of the ATF out (about 8 or 9 l), still did the flush with about 4L of new ATF for the cooler and what was left in the Torque Converter. Others have used compressed air up into the guts of the transmission, but I've only seen that once the valve body is removed, the air nozzle goes into the pump inlet.

IMHO a partial fill with new fluid to mix with the old is a waste of new fluid and time.

No, because it's easy to drain almost all of it out in one hit.

But if the sump plug only released half of it, then yes, I'd just drain out half and replace at more regular intervals.
