View Full Version : 2007 RRS tow bar seems low

Hi all,

have recently purchased a 2007 RRS that had a factory quick fit tow bar hitch to it (the one with the green handle and key). it came with a tongue that has genuine land rover stamped on it. part number RAA500.

when i slot that in, it sits very very low, probably 15-20mm off ground. far too low to attach anything and i sure it would scrape going in and out out driveway. a bit of research tells me this is a "goose neck" tongue.

has anyone else had this problem? or can canyone tell me if there is a tongue that is different that will slot into the hitch?

or do i need to go to a tow bar shop and purchase an aftermarket tongue?

there is no way i could tow anything with it currently .

thanks

It sounds as though you have the tongue stepped down rather than up.

Thanks for the info. Just googled it and the car actually came with one of them as well. How ever I thought that was for towing caravan etc

Bonus. Thanks.

Hi Graeme,

If I turn it the other way the land rover plate would be upside down. Just assumed it was meant to be right way up?

Not sure if any safety issues if it is turned other way round. Im guessing it probably still
Ok?

i use it to tow camper trailer. 700kg.
mitch hitch is better allround.

I've never encountered any reason not to flip it as required. I don't place any significance in the plate's position.

Here ia pic I just took of mine. PN RAA550 (not RAA500) With the label up the ball is 450mm off ground (EAS normal height)
