Has anyone ever used Goodyear efficientgrip on a D4? Im looking at getting the 275/55/20 nittos off the car, done bit ove r30k klms and just not happy with the rubbing and to be honest, we just ddont off road enough to make it worthwhile.Intent on going back to a more road focussed tyre.. and these, at $700 for 4, would be awesome priced. looking at 265/50/20. Kmart auto tyre centres will beat any advertised price, and my neighbor and good friend happens to manage one..
id then be selling the nittos fairly cheap if there was any interest

I had them in 255/60/18 on my D3 when i bought it, quickly swapped to 265/60/18 AT's as they are a HT tyre. Quiet and seem to grip ok but cant answer anything about wear or longevity.

I too had them on my D3 when I bought it. They seemed OK on bitumen and gravel roads but I never really tested them.
Have now replaced with Pirellis.

I thought that the 107 load rating is too low, but perhaps not.

Still a very low load rating for a heavy vehicle such as a D4.

I thought 109 was the lowest on the tyre placard.

thanks for the input. I spoke to my mate who believes they will be fine, mak load across all 4 corners will be 3900 kg, if im towing my camper ,which has ball weight of 105kg, with all 4 of us onboard (252kg) we are still way under that, even allowing another 100kg for luggage. as i mentioned, wont be doing any really intensive offroading, and from what i saw, the last trip i did with the SEQ guys, lake lyell, the D5 with HT treads went everywhere that the rest went with no problems..
if anyone is looking for a cheaper set of 275/55/20 nitto grappler G2 AT rubber with only ~35k travelled, ill be selling them for ~$500. Im in canberra if interested

The tyre placard shows the minimum load rating regardless of one's calculations.

I'd be surprised if a tyre shop would fit those as they are under rated for the car, regardless of what your mate thinks , I wouldn't be putting them on .
as mentioned the load rating is 109 so , aside from the possible legal ramifications , the safety of everyone on board would come first.
there is a lot more load on the tyre than static loads when driving

Fitting a tyre with lower load rating than the manufacturer states can have warranty and insurance implications. I would investigate further if I were you.

totally agree. Tyres are something I never skimp on. Simply not worth the risks as noted above.

And the T speed rating is way under the Y rating specified on the tyre placard for 20” wheels.

Driving a car is like a dicey sex tour of Asia. A little bit of rubber between you and certain death.
Never compromise Tyres or Brakes.

The placard speed rating is not the minimum for 4wd vehicles in Australia which IIRC is N.

Had them on a D2 and they did not wear well..I suspect they are soft. Local tyre shop said they are often original on new cars cause they are cheap. Mmm but arnt they made in Germany?
