I have an old Samsung S4 that has just been lying around for a few years. I am giving it to a young relative so deleted all the contacts I had in the phone - worked fine.
However in doing so it has also taken out my contacts in my current Google Pixel phone [bigsad]. How does this happen and how can I get my contacts back in my current phone.
Restore contacts does not work.
Thanks
Garry

Are they on the sim card ?, I think you must have had your Google account on the S4 still.

Hi,
My understanding is that the online contacts list is synchronised with the phone lists. Edits (including deletions) are linked.
I gather the thing to do is reset the phone to its default state by using the pin like tool supplied to press the recessed switch.
This is not altering your list, just not connecting to it.
Cheers

I have no idea - I think some in the phone memory some on the sim card - I just find it amazing that you can wipe a phone that has not been used for 18 months and it takes out the contacts in my current phone.
Any way i deleted the google account - but then that causes other issues - not interested in google accounts - just want to use my phone as I want - I backup to my laptop so i dont need clouds and things and old phones killing information on new phones.
I was able to reconstruct my contacts from ISP emails and texts etc and form my laptop backups - but this time not linked to any google account.
In future if any app wants a google account it is not getting loaded.
Thanks for the input.
