Hi all,
Did a search and couldn't find what I am looking for.

What is the expected life of a battery in a SDV8?

The battery in my D4 only lasted 80,000 Klm's from new.
My SDV8 has now done 74,000 Klm's and I have battery warning lights coming up.

Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Craig

Do you have a diagnostic tool that can reset the battery monitor to indicate that a new battery has been fitted? This worked wonders on a D4 battery that couldn't stay charged. The suspicion is that the smart charging reduced charge as the battery aged without reference to the battery's ability to still accept full charge.

Thanks for your reply Graeme.

I don't have a diagnostic tool unfortunately. Might have to drop into a Land Rover dealer.

Thanks again, Craig

The Varta AGM battery that I fitted to my D4 (now my son's) in 2013 when 4 years old started failing at 4 years but its replacement was short-lived with a split casing so the 2013 battery was refitted, having spent about 1 year on a solar panel powering radio equipment. The monitor was reset when the 2013 was removed and again when refitted although the stint on the solar panel may have had an effect too. The 2013 battery is still fitted and showing no signs of failing (touching wood).

Mmmmm, interesting.
Whether to take the plunge and get a new battery or chance a reset.....

From what I hear, four to five years is about all you get out of a battery on these electronic ridden vehicles.
