i'm sure most would be aware of this mod, but just incase

when pulling out my busted cv at easter my mate suggested i mod the front brake line bracket so that i can remove the brake caliper without disconnecting the brake line therefore saving the need to bleed the brakes after re-assembly. all i need to do now is lossen the lock nut on the bracket and slide the line out.

Ummm.....

Why do you need to remove the brake line?

Umm, I'm a bit confussed than

on a 95 defender I could not see any other way to remove the caliper other than disconnect the brake line from the caliper. I will have another look tonight. The guy that was helping me in bush is a mechanic and he explain that all the 110's in the ARMY have been modded this way for the same reason. As it was after I fitted the replacement cv I had to wait til megs came home hours later so I could bleed the brakes, after the mod I can now pull the hubs of at any time and not worry aboult bleeding the brakes after reassembely.

If there is a better way please let us know.

Maybe the previous has set the brake lines up different than standard, I can take a pic and post.

Thanks

It is a bit of a PITA, typical LR design. The alternative, and what I do, is to remove the 2 bolts from the top swivel pin. This allows you to lift off the caliper complete with the bracket still attached.
