G'day All
I'm planning to put sound damping and insulation on the inside of my roof.
I'm wondering if it will be easier todo this with the roof on the ground.
How hard is it to remove the roof and is there anything that i need to look out for.

I've put sound deadener/insulation on my roof, I did it in situ while my headlining was out being repaired; and I would recommend this option. If you want to remove the roof, the only tricky parts are removing the gunk they use to seal the front of the roof to the windscreen surround and then getting that join to seal again when you're done. Apart from that it's just nuts and bolts.

Hi all.
I don’t wish to high jack this thread but this is related. I have a leak in the roof of my 300Tdi and after heavy rain water fills the inside channels and conveniently pours all over my right leg as soon as the vehicle is pointing a little down hill or you hit the brakes. I assume this is coming through the sealant which has deteriorated over the years. Pretty sure it is not coming in around the front or the windscreen but the main roof area.
It has a three quarter length roof rack which has been moved back and forth by the PO so this has also ripped up sealing in the gutters.
What is the best way to fix this? Remove all the existing stuff and reapply some modern sealer?
I want to fix this before sticking dynamat to the roof also.
Appreciate any clues or preferred product for the job.
Cheers - Simon
