Hi All,
Anyone had any resolution to getting a No5 over pits with the original lunette/ring, ‘completely legally’? Ie with the full knowledge of the inspector and not just ‘overlooked that it has no rating or makers mark as per VSB1 ADR stuff’, and not marking it themselves! I want to find a way to get it passed without $$$$ testing. Looking at some options, but interested in other’s experiences.
I’m not looking at changing the hitch etc. Just widening the guards, adding reflectors.

Cheers,
Dave

Not sure over your way mate, it’s just pay your money ($67 + $21 for the number plate) here in Vic and it’s done. Just needs to have working lights.

Wouldn’t have thought it would need to meet any ADR’s or VSB’s to be honest either. What issues have other in WA had?

Ha. I wish. Here you need proof of previous ownership and purchase (one guy had major issues ‘proving he got one at auction’), then they go over it by an approved inspector with a fine tooth comb to VSB1: must be weighed (mine insisted I take it on a 100km round trip to an approved weighbridge), reflectors, mudguards have to be wider, mudflaps, lunette draws attention, tyres may even draw attention for being old it has been rumoured... Chains are ok unmarked - if I can prove it’s older that 19xx... Rust only issue if it adds to leaks or weaknesses.
BUT... we have no yearly vehicle inspection. So lifted 4x4s, crazy mods, oil leaks, engine swaps etc., rarely get picked up until something bad happens.
