Hi all,

I am after a hood / canvas / soft top in good condition for my 1977 Series 3 SWB.

Does anybody know a good canvas maker (?) in the Brisbane area with LR experience? How much should a new top cost?

Is it possible (for a canvas maker) to convert a LWB top to SWB relatively easily?

Cheers,

Thomas

Cant help you with any names but as far as a LWB fitting a SWB I would say the window in the middle might be a problem.
I recall some similar questions in the past that had replies so why don't you do a search using the word canvas? https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

you can land a new english tilt at your doorstep for under $500 without windows, little more for them.... any of the UK majors can supply them...and ship them to your door...

i did the rounds of the local guys and no one could get anywhere close...

I'm buying a canvas from Paddocks myself ... within OZ the prices are silly.

Hi all,

thanks for the answers, yes, UK prices are pretty good. I've seen Craddocks on ebay.co.uk, there's also www.mps4x4store.co.uk etc.

Has anybody seen their tilts though, I hear they are not too good (might be a case of "you get what you pay for")??? Would be interesting to know.

I've been checking out some hood auctions on ebay UK and for some reasons used ones go for only a little less than above mentioned new ones...no idea, why?

I guess I gotta talk to a canvas maker and see what they say. Doesn't look like rocket science...and if I get it made here at least I have somebody to yell at

Cheers,

Thomas

Hey Mate,

I was talking to a forum member about this the other day, re having a soft top made? He had one made up for $600 brand new with windows and I doubt you would get a better deal than that ... when I asked him why it was still so costly he said the magic words ... "canvas is expensive" ... and so it is. I still reckon you'll get a better deal from Paddocks than you will having one hand made. But let us know how you go either way.

Best, Simon.

G'day Tomkah https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
See if you can get on to Firey on the REMLR forum as he is aware of a bloke that used to do the Army canvas tops, he now has his own bussiness now I think, his name is Attilla, Firey will know who I mean.

I think we'd all be interested to know what this guy charges for his soft tops. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
