We stopped at Tarcutta for smoko yesterday, and I mentioned to Ricki that this was halfway Melbourne .. Sydney, and the site of “the blockade”. So of course the why and when questions where asked and to my eternal embarrassment, I couldn’t quite elucidate . So V8Ian, can you help? I thought late 70s, and the protest was re intra state road tariffs and tax, and really nothing much changed, and was the chief protagonist a chap called green dog?

Is protagonist a big word for hero or legend? [bigwhistle]

Ian is probably old enough to remember the Tarcutta bog in the 1950's.

Righto, thanks men.
Razorback.......Yass.... Ted Stevens, ‘‘tis stirring the cells a bit.
I refuse to believe Ian ,that you where young and naive, next thing you will tell us you rode a B.S.A. to work. Thanks for the offer re book, but will try online when we get back to Encounter Bay.
Yass , was Tote living there all those years ago? And has the truckies lot improved much, I know the trucks and trailers have, but are you fellows still getting clobbered .
And yes Ian ,Ted was indeed a working man’s legend.

Nope, I was living around Orange at that time. I did drive a rental furniture truck through a blockade in 1988 at Yass but that blockade was not organised by the same people as Razorback. A bit of info here H.R. Nicholls Society: No Ticket, No Start---No More!: Australia's Transport Industries and the Unions (http://archive.hrnicholls.com.au/archives/vol6/vol6-6.php) and here 13 Jul 1988 - Hume Highway a shambles as truck blockade continues at Yass - Trove (https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/102032035)
40 years ago I was not old enough to hold a truck licence [smilebigeye]
