Went out this morning at 6am to go to work, and wondered why there was someting next to my 5 month old Defender. When I got closer, noticed that the passenger rear sliding windows were smashed, and the 40l Engle fridge was gone. The side passenger window is also smashed. Took various other things, and of course it is raining in Melbourne this weekend. This happened 6 meters from my bedroom window, and the dogs didn't even wake up. I hate when my personal space is invaded, and they take things. Now to get some more glass, and hastle with insurance.

The cops aren't even coming out. They said they will send me a letter for my insurance. I know there is not much they can do anyway.

Ah, but I solved that anyhow.... 80L Waeco in the back of mine wouldn't fit through the window....

Sorry to hear about your loss, Had this happen too often over the years...

1 home invasion (wife was only one there)
1 home breakin - 2 weeks later, cleaned out house and garage
2 motor vehicle thefts, 1 written off (literally at 160km/h) other full rebuild
3 vehicle break-ins

Trust me, it gets to you!!! Fit a good alarm.... Tint the windows (harder to break) and just do your best....

Wish you well..

Its things like yours and RichardKs misfortunes that really make me glad I dont live in the city.
Not that we dont have low life probs, they just seem to have a small respect for personal property.
Wouldnt it be just nice to catch them in the act.

All my misfortunes occurred in Adelaide...

Moving to a large rural city was the best thing I have done!

No rat race, and "peak hour traffic" is 5 vehicles in a row https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Now its a relaxed lifestyle and the Flinders etc is only 40 minutes from my door!

Good tracks are less than 5 minutes.....

Yep... Truly a great decision

Cheers

Its aggrevating enough to have your vehicle damaged and stuff stolen but its even more aggrevating when the police cant do anything about it and you just have to sit there knowing they have gotten away with it. Matt

Sorry to hear of that, I know how you feel, you lost more than me and the problem is : will they come back?
I leave my Disci empty every night now, and as they didnt get much hopefully the will leave it as a "lost cause'

Having said all that we shouldnt have to do that, but that is what the brain dead in our society have reduced us to.

My only hope is that the DNA taken fron blood will eventually catch them.

Why can't there be a minimum mandatory jail term of say 12 months for these offenders?

My daughters car got done the same night but once again slim pickings.

Another thing to think about is that it may not have been a theft of opportunity, your car may have been "cased "at some time previousley and they came prepared. The actual time to do a job like that is only minutes so the chances of being awake are limited.
The scary thing is that we dont know who or what is around during the night.

If they are pets, growl at them, curse them for not being better guard dogs, then give them a pat and rub. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

If they are guard dogs, the type that nip at the posties back wheel, look forward to tasting a mormon, chomp your toddler when he inadvertantly goes to close to their food bowl; :x

then

They should be replaced!
They have let the team down, let the wolf into the sheep pen, failed in their duty to guard the hand that feeds them and obviously don't appreciate LR as you do!

what are they feeding you over in the west?

They are the Golden Retriever type of guard dogs. As an example of their effectivness, a burglar would trip over them when they entered the premesis, and wake them up. The only time they get "excited" is Dinner time, and walk time.

I don't have a fridge on the back of my truck, but I keep everything covered over with blankets to make it harder for the bastards to see if there is anything worth stealing :?
