My wife was driving back home from Canberra to Sydney and copped a rock, resulting in a crack. Should I look at getting it repaired? or just hit up insurance for a replacement?

Of course the windscreen is fully optioned with solar attenuation, auto wipers and high beam assist etc.

That long crack is not a repair - replace.

That crack isn't repairable and it looks as though it intrudes into the driver's defined view area and if so then it has to be replaced.

My L322 copped a rock on the passenger side 4 days after I acquired the car but as to date the cracks have kept very low so I'm not replacing the screen yet.

My one was delivered with a crack and chip, it wasn't there pre delivery. I got it looked at by windscreen guys and they said that it was a previous repair, somehow it has resurfaced. Poor job by the ones who did it.

I am getting it claimed though insurance as neither transport or dealer is going to cover for it.

A full windscreen replacement will involve calibration and adjustments which I never knew were existent until owning the RRS haha. Quite interesting actually.

Luckily it is going to cost me $100 only.

I've also done reading and any crack that is longer than 15cm or near an edge needs to be replaced. That and being in the driver's field of view too.

Chips are to be less than 16mm diameter to be able to be repaired.

Hope you got it sorted !156253

It took a nearly a month to get LR genuine replacement windscreen. Don’t accept a generic one.

I've just got mine replaced through insurance, $100excess and took a day for fitment and calibration.
