First up, I have a sunroof in my rangie (I hate sun roofs) and never use it. On Thursday morning after a storm I find the sunroof open and a lot of water inside the car. Dried everthing the best I could and left for an appointment about 100km away. All seem normal until first up
the fuel gauge went to empty with the light on (full tank before leaving)
Next
Temp gauge to cold with red light on
then lost
electric windows, indiccators, headlights come on, no rear or brake lights, so basicly a complete electrical shutdown (engine still going and trans changing normal)
went to my daughters which was close by
Turned the car off with the ignition switch and it WOULD NOT STOP

disconnected battery and it still wouldn't stop (running on alternator)

Stayed running for about 45 minutes until it stop (Iwas 30m away at this point).

I had been on the phone to ract a couple of times (they had trouble comprehending why I was calling and the car was going)

Hooked the battery back up and all seemed normal again apart from the air suppension lights playing a merry old dance for a while but they seem to have settled now too

Left wonder how the bloody sunroof come open for a start

What lasting damage am I looking at

Maybe I need to tell insurance company to cover myself down the track

Thoughts please

cheers

The main thing with water ingress from the sunroof as far as i know is the switchpack for the windows etc

It might be worth pulling that out and giving it a good clean with electrical contact cleaner

It can't hurt to notify your insurance company either

Good luck
