So I tried 2 Xtrons TE706PL head units but had the same problem with both. When first installed, the screen was fine but switching it off for a couple of hours then back on the screen was covered by fine vertical grey lines which cleared after about 10-15 minutes. This reoccurred each time the unit was switched off for more than an hour. I think it may have something to do with it being a very tight fit depth wise and there may be some pressure on the screen when installed.

So I bought an Eonon GA2171S. It is not as deep as the Xtrons so it fits more easily. Cosmetically different to the Xtrons but functionally almost the same. The Eonon has DSP (digital signal processing) and a 15 band equaliser compared to a 10 band. Whether it makes much difference ..??

The disappointing thing is that neither will recognise the IID BT Tool.

both those units I think are bluetooth V 2. Gap IID needs head units with minimum V 4

I thought if they work with an iPhone X they would work with the pretty much anything.

Strange that they don't work... both should be fine - the first has specs that state it's compatible with Bluetooth 5.0 and the second states anything above 2.0.

The only thing I can suggest is to ensure it's not connected via Bluetooth to your phone at the same time, as it probably won't like multiple connections.

I haven't got around to trying it yet on my Eonon head unit, still have to wire in the reversing camera.
Doesn't worry me if doesn't work as i have my phone and a tablet that it works on.

Deleted all paired devices and removed from vehicle but still couldn’t find it. Will keep using my phone or tablet.
Would have been nice though.

I wired mine to the reverse light circuit. I didn’t get the Eonon camera and had to run a separate reverse switch cable that is also wired to the reverse light. The reverse switch signals the headunit to switch to the rear camera view when reverse is selected. So I would think you need to wire to the reverse light circuit. But I didn’t consider other options. All I know is it works.

I emailed eonon and they suggested wiring power from the head unit instead of reverse light so will try that first.
