Hi team

I am installing a Mud centre console and am having difficulty getting the wash/wiper wiring correct so the self-park function works correctly. The switch in question is an ARB Carling NARVA style rocker switch.

The left most switch is the one here...

150784

The wash wipe works no problem, just the self-park.

Is there a trick to get this to work?

thanks in advance

Cheers - Simon

I have no experience with the rear 110 wiper, but I do know the front ones have a park switch......that fails. It can be replaced, so it's not the end of the world. Perhaps the rear has one too.
Someone should be along soon to help you further with this.
Don.

Thanks Don

It parks fine with the old switch, so maybe something different. Wash/wipe works with no issue.

That suggests something to do with the new switch. Is all the wiring the same as before?

It appears to be. Will only work when correctly connected or it blows the fuse :-)

theres up to 4 wires to an auto parking wiper motor.. (assuming -ve earth)

1. slow speed
2. high speed
3. always on
4. earth.

if you dont have power to the always on then the park switch wont work. The switch provides power to the motor on the low speed winding whenever the wiper cam gear is not in the park position.

Well I took it to the local auto sparkie along with the wiring diagrams and he couldn’t work it out.

On Monday it’s going to a Defender specialist who had a quick look the other day and thought the switch maybe wrong for the functionality required. Of course the people I bought it from said no worries we have sold lots to Defender owners :-)

orrrr...

with some pics and meter work we can nut this out and do it up as a tute style thread in the tech section..

I'm game to lay on the brain cells if you want to be the hands and eyes.

No chance for photos tomorrow unfortunately and Sunday I am taking this vehicle to the club workshop day.

Then Monday off to the workshop for other stuff and I have already told the boss I can live with the self parking issue so if he can’t fix it in five minutes move be on..

So if it is still a problem the following weekend I will certainly take some photos... :-)
