Just got an email telling me there are further restrictions and my photos will be blurred.
Because they don't allow 3rd party hosting it doesn't matter anyway.
Seems to be a common business model.
First free.
Then impose restrictions unless you pay.
I understand it costs money to host but for a lot of people by the time they have uploaded 1,000's of photos they feel they have to pay.
Same with Flickr, I'm now limited to how many free photos. How long before they move the goalposts and my photos get taken down ?

all well and good to blame the sites hosting this stuff but with so many people now using adblockers and the like, that weren't around in any numbers back in the day when they started these business models that they were relying on to fund these places
something has to give, as sadly the numbers simply just don't add up any more which is why subscription models and user pay models are now becoming endemic
throw in the euro privacy rules heading the nets way and just about any decent size community is going to struggle to maintain traction in a few years.
bit sad really....

Everyone got used to using things like this for nothing I suppose. I ditched Photobucket because of the way they treated everyone and went to Flickr. While they are changing things too, they have given plenty of time for everyone to get used to their new policies and I ended up paying for a Pro account as I’m over halfway full on the free account and I like it much better than other photo hosting sites. It isn’t that expensive either particularly compared to photobucket - around the same as I pay for my Gold Subscriber level here. Gives me unlimited space for that price, so well under half the price of photo buckets top level and there is no storage limit or bandwidth limits to worry about like they have - bloody stupid model photo bucket has IMO.
As they say - when something is free - you’re the product. When there’s no money left in that, someone has to pay.

I got sick of all of the photo hosting issues a lot of years back. In the end I created my own site, pay the money and havent had the issues since.
