I picked up on Thursday my third Land Rover a 1964 Series 2a Ex Army in pretty good nick.

Immediate things to be done to get running properly as it hasn't been started for 9 months is pull down fuel system & clean out & check as idles rough at the moment, also fix slight leak in fuel tank seam. Possible rubber in daphram perish letting in air?

Parts to chase up include:-
Canvas Top, hoops for canvas, battery, original carby/filter, wipers, both door tops with glass, muffler, front blinkers, right rear bumber, left mudflap, left mirror.

Other than the above, it is straight as a die, just needs rubbing back and respraying in original matt green, any suggestions where to get paint?

Body underneath not marked, no gouges, no bashed spring hangers, must have been driven around the base & not in the bush.

A few pics below and more in my gallery.

Hi Drivesafe,

I paid $1800 for it with a load of new parts in the tub. What sold me on it was the straightness of the body & new engine fitted, yes it is the standard factory petrol engine... that alone is worth $1800, I would not have bought it with a holden donk

There is also the possibility of picking up from the previous owner, the old engine, lots more spare army wheels/tyres, & hopefully the rag top & bows, but I'm not holding my breath, it'll be a bonus if it comes off.

Cheers
Bryce

And now I'm looking for a series 1 to keep them company, the bugs now got me I've got plenty of room to put them now, it would never have happened in Sydney.

Yeh sure is Slunnie.

The land even at around 830 metres doesn't have too many hills to conquer but has some awsome gullies and access to some mine sites. Plan to make some tracks over some of the harder bits. Actually be a buz when it get wet in parts. I'm trying to get access to a neighbours block that climbs a bit higher.

It's got some fun country right at the back door as well.

You'll have to come for a run & help find some new bits. Running a trip over the October Long weekend maybe a recce sooner than that.

Cheers
Bryce
