Hi There,
I am thinking of upgrading my D4 to a new Discovery 5 6SD, and I'm trying to work out whether there is a bigger "variety/choice" of All Terrain tyres available to choose from for the genuine 19 or 20 inch LR alloys. With my D4 I went to the expense of buying 18" Compomotives, but I would like to try to avoid the expense of a wheel change with the new D5.
I am very conscious that which ever tyre choice or size I pick , I would like the tyre circumference to remain as close as possible to the original tyres fitted on the genuine 19 or 20 inch LR alloys.
Is there a suitable tyres size in the new Pirelli ATTR Plus to fit the genuine 19 or 20 inch LR alloys ?
Any feed back and info most appreciated

p.s. does any one know the standard tyres sizes that come on the new D5 2018/19 - in both 19 and 20 inch ?

D5 tyre diameter is 31" with various combinations of rim diameter, section width and profile.
The new Pirelli AT+ is available in 275/55R20 which is very close to 32" so the spare would need to be the same size but at least 275/55R20 fits in the D5 spare wheel spot.
Various other brands are also available in 275/55R20.
Nothing really available in 19".

20" wheels have 255/55 R20 tyres from factory. I changed my order which had 19" wheels as standard to 20", as at the time there were more tyre options for 20" wheels.

Thanks Ron.

This website is quite useful for comparing the different tyre size measurements :- Tire Size Comparison (https://tiresize.com/comparison/)

Standard 19” are 255 60 r19. Nothing available that size. For anything off-road you are forced to buy 255 55 r19.

Hi Graeme,
So the slightly larger 275's fit without any clearance issues?
John.

I can only go by what others with D5s, L494s and L405s report, which is yes. However clearance for snow chains is obviously reduced by the extra half an inch radius and extra tread width.
I'm still keen on my AT+ in the size with their LI 113 rating - heavy enough duty without being LT, quiet except on coarse gravel bitumen and good handling in all conditions so far encountered.

Probably 2 years ago LR released details of a proposed high-powered off-road D5 which was fitted with 275/55R20 tyres.

Got a 2019 D5 and has 235x65 R19 as standard. No luck coming up with any AT tyres yet. Hoping someone has and can let me know. Don't want to change rims.

I had my 275/55R20 Pirelli AT+ in outback SA the last 2 weeks and am happy that they are up to the task of surviving rock chunks on outback tracks, even though I destroyed one and significantly damaged the rim hitting an unseen (until the last moment) 6"-8" high lump of limestone hiding behind a small bush on the edge of the track between Nullabor and Watson at around 40 kph. Perhaps if I hadn't swerved slightly then the full tread width might have taken the hit but I would have expected the tyre to still be destroyed, perhaps surviving until used at high speed. I also doubt that my previous LT BFG would have survived as I expected suspension damage from the force of the hit but thankfully none found.

I am currently running a D4 with 19's and have been happy with the General AT3's - GEN 255/55R19 111H XL AT3 GRAB ;-)

255/55R19 is undersize for the D5.
