My 2010 TDV6 has a denso #DAN1106 (D4 - LR073680) alternator...

I have a new denso #DAN987 (D3 - LR008861) (YLE500400) that i would like to use to replace it.

both units are the same on the outside and both are 150A 12V

BUT... they have slightly different pulleys

Can anyone confirm if the D3 and D4 alternators from DENSO UK are interchangable by swapping the pulleys.
ASAP I have to order a replacement today if they are NOT interchangeable.

yep, but possibly only on models with a roof rack and tray or basket.

Just noticed details you listed for the D4 Alternator (being 6 ribs on pulley rather than D3 8 ribs).
Have transplanted a Ford Territory motor over to my D3, and noted that we also had to change over ALL the front pulleys, inc water pump, because the were running on 6 ribs on the Ford pulleys.
I'm wondering if the difference between D4 and D3 is that D4 is running on 6 ribs (rather than 8 ribs on D3)
Likely that the alternator is the same D3/D4 except for the ribs on the pulley.

The pulley spec for the D4 alternator is for a smaller diameter, so the D4 would appear to run faster than the D3 unit. The actual alternator spec seems to be the same, so if changing the pulleys is all it takes then looks like they’re interchangeable. You could check with an auto electrician, or with the uk sellers like Rimmer Bros or Advanced Factors, surely they’d be able to confirm 100%
