My Kaymar swing away wheel carrier has been squeaking lately.
Today I removed it and as I did, a flood of water came oout of the bearing assembly. The bearings are probably buggered.
So, if you have a swingaway wheel carrier that uses wheel bearings to pivot, give them a clean and grease occasionally.

<span style="color:blue">does it have a grease nipple on it....?
if not...why not fit one while you have it apart.....</span>

No it doesn't Tony. Perhaps I will. Good idea.
Actually I wasn't going to put it back on the P38A as it is inconvenient. I'll throw the spare in the back and lash it down to the tie-down points (the wheel-well is normally occupied by an LPG tank and also the 245/75R16 tyres won't fit in the wheel-well).

Hey Ron
I have a friend with a P38 and is looking for a wheel carrier. You wouldn't have any photos of yours posted up anywhere would you?

I'm selling the Kaymar rear bar and the wheel carrier. Pix of my white RR with the bar and carrier on the RangeRovers.net website: http://rangerovers.net/outfitting/bumpers/...s/rearbump.html (http://rangerovers.net/outfitting/bumpers/rearbump.html)

I recall Terry Boyce had the same problem with his Kaymar bar on his Defender. He wrote about it in an LROC mag.
