I just purchased the D4 workshop manual from Dave's Shop.

Approaching 8000 pdf pages, much of which is irrelevant to my 2010 poverty pack.

So far I've identified that the actual workshop manual starts on page 845 and mentions 5 major categories (General Info, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical and Body & Paint).

Can anyone advise of a simple way to access the more detailed indices without having to scroll through the whole lot?

If for example I want to know (as I do) what the symbols on the LHS of my radio screen mean - where can I find such simple requirements.

I can't believe how complicated it all is and the rationale for where some of the info is located!!

You may need to read the User Manual and not the Service Manual if all you want to know is what the symbols do. I'm assuming you are not trying to repair the radio, just use it?

I have all the original issue books and been through them twice. Plenty of info about the upmarket stuff eg touch screens, but bugger all about the lesser stuff - hence my frustration!

Is that likely to give me more information than the full set of LR owners books and the D4 LR workshop manual that I already have?

I have no idea as I've never used it, it's another resource you can try though.

I doubt if Topix would help. You would need a subscription for a (short) period to be able to see any documents, which would include the workshop manual, service bulletins etc. As said before, take a photo and post it here.

Check the owners manual supplied with the vehicle, basic radio information starts on page 296 for manual issue 1, and page 290 onwards for manual issue 2.

Kelvo, as above/below I've already done all that, and the amount of info for my version would fit on a postage stamp.

I'll get off my posterior and take a pic and post that.
