Stage 1 V8 - advice on buying?

Hey everyone. I'm new to Land Rovers but have owned a few old Holdens and Fords before. We're looking at potentially a series III or stage 1 V8. I've found the generic info on what to look for in terms of rust and things for stage IIIs, but is there anything specific to look for on a stage 1 model that I should be aware of? And how do they compare for prices/value compared to a regular stage III? Its kind of hard to tell as they aren't coming up as often for sale.

This Stage 1 has me interested. Being a beachside car I'm concerned about rust, and its got a few 'upgrades' like the bonnet scoop and wheelarch flairs so its not super original, but I'm not too fussed about that. Be curious to hear what people''s thoughts are? hi i have a stage one all original for sale needs repairs on fire wall and doors not running 3.5 motor and original gearbox panels all straight 4.500 dollors this way it gives you leeway for work which they all need jim

Thanks Russell. I'm after something that's ready to enjoy and maintain, not really after a project.

Cripes that guide looks great, hadnt come across that in my research so far.
