View Full Version : Oil in engine harness

Guys have been having sporadic performance problems. Found hints of oil at the ECU end (red connector) of the engine wiring harness.

Has anyone had to deal with this problem and if so did they replace both the engine harness and the injector harness under cam cover.

Thinking of doing this myself - is replacing the engine harness to the ECU a nightmare??

Any advice much appreciated.. Daz

If you do a search in the tech forum you will find some additional posts by CraigE and LandyAndy on this subject.

What model is your TD5? Hope this helps

I swear this car has been cursed since I bought it - power steering pump just died as well (got a great price from UK though - $391.00 landed in Sydney, was quoted up to $800.00 from Sydney parts suppliers??)

Have a good one

Hi Daz
Its an easy job.
Remove the noise cover and remove the rocker cover.
Mine wasnt effecting the performance yet but their was oil in the plug.
I cleaned mine with carby cleaner(because I had a spare tin and it dries "dry") and compressed air.It cleaned up very well,I then sealed it up with RTV blue silicone, see the post refered to above.Pics there from Craig and myself.

I'll stick a link to this in the recommended overseas suppliers section https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

And some links in the common threads section.
