G'day

My puma (2.4 MY11) has been making a bit of a strange(r) noise (more than usual) of late. As soon as it hits 3000rpm it rattles till about 3500rpm. It doesn't sound like injector timing/knocking (had that earlier) - it almost sounds like if you were to scrape a large sword down the street. Similar to the heatshield bracket being broken (having just fixed that), though it is very specific to 3000-3500 rpm. I'll try get a video in the AM of sound.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Gus

Our 2010 2.4 developed a rattle from the timing chain area whilst ticking over while on a remote trip. Didn't sound nice at all as if the chain was hitting the casing, but we decided to carry on as we were about equi distant between places.
Then it just disappeared and apart from the normal rattles it never came back. Actually I reckon the thing always sounded worse when I used Penrite oil instead of the recommended Castrol. Who knows, probably an over active imagination. :)

Thats hilarious.
I can only imagine someone left a washer or something in there during the build, it got loose and then settled somewhere.

I twice bought a Disco 4.

The first one had voice control, but no matter how I tried, it didnt work.
I sent if off to the dealers.

Answer. oops, there was no microphone installed above the visor!!!!

After that, I upgraded to a defender.
