Hi All,

Last night picked up a new to me 2015 D4 (will post some photos over the wekend.) My D3 has the cooler cubby and I want to swap it over. I've done a search, and was comfortable that it could be done......up until last night when I picked up the car and was chatting to the sales guy at Southerns. He thought that it could be done physically as they are the same but on the later model (not sure from what year exactly but when the USB input went to the glove box) the power supply wasn't in the centre console from the factory. It meant the cooler went from a dealer fitted option to a factory option. Can anyone confirm this?

Further, if this is the case, is it as simple as running power (from the aux battery as I wouldd do) to the coller and wiring it in?

Thanks in advance.

David.

I bought mine when the LargeOne was doing group buys on them at Disco3, it is fitted in a 2011 D4 but i wired it directly to the aux battery.

Just to finish the information on this one for future reference.

I changed the cooler cubby from my '05 D3 to the '15 D4 on the wekend. Direct swap, the '15 has the power in place ready to go. Simple job, once the other trim out of the way, two screws in the front and just need to give the cooler/storage box a good hard upwards tug to release the clips in the base.

What is the cooler like, i think they are a peltier design ? i think i prefer the space for my junk to a cooler.

Mine works well. Certainly better if what you put in is already cold but I have put ambient temp drinks in and it cools them to a good drinking temp. Good for chocolates also. Used it last night keeping the sundae's cold on the weay home from Maccas[biggrin]

I valued it enough to go to the trouble of swapping it over.

I've wired mine via the car loom for now, however when I fit a dual battery system I'll wire it to that, so it can stay on.

Also, you can still use it for storing your stuff. It's just a bit smaller that the non cooler box....

I agree that they do have their uses but they draw more power (by Far) than a 37l Engle. So mine gets little use now that the Engle takes up the center second row position.
