Hello all

This is my first post and just new to this forum, I've been a discovery owner for many years and now, wanting to 'take advantage' of the cheap 98-99 SE or HSE Rangies for sale given the fuel hike. My old disco has served me well on lpg and wanting to upgrade to the auto but what is stopping me is that I do all of my own backyard mechanics and the thought of a warning light which means straight to a dealer is frightening for the budget. I had a little search here but a dial up user until august when the broadband gets rolled out. So just wanted to know if there exist basic software to identify the faults and reset faults once fixed etc

I'm looking at a rangie or two over the next few weeks but this is the area that is stopping me, any advice would be appreciated. Electronics and adaptor cables are easy for me to make just need the experience of those before me.

Regards

mousie (Geoff)

Just been reading further and it appears that this is a difficult issue knowing the protocal to talk with the ecu, so its not promising but did see a few web discussion on a basic program, bugger! Anyway I'll keep looking. Up to the challange in the it area but testing out protocol development on an ecu that you really need is the nightmare

Many have looked at this and given up.

Your best bet is to purchase a RovaComLite http://www.rovacomlite.com/
