I'd have this, too bad they don't do RHD or it would be a personal import. 350km per charge.

The anti EV coal argument is just stupid, the net reduction in pollution is about 70% even if all the electricity is generated by coal.

It takes the same amount of electricity to produce / refine & deliver oil as would be used by EV's to travel the same distance as that refined oil would drive ICE vehicles.

so not only do ICE cars use Electricity they also burn oil and pollute again whilst doing so, and are significantly less efficient !!

Yep, still an order of magnitude cleaner to burn coal to power EV's than burn petrol or diesel to power the same vehicles.

It's been available in China with IC motor for some time.

Only a 5 Seater so I'll stick with my diesel Terri for a while yet.

I wonder how much is 'Ford'. I know they were partnering with a couple of Chinese companies to get into the EV market.

Fascinating. I've never argued this one way or the other. In fact, I avoid the argument you postulate for precisely this reason; people jump to their confected conclusions without actually reading.

My comment was about the grid. It's estimated that if one house adds an EV it's the equivalent of adding three houses to the grid. We continue to add pressure to the grid and continue to fail to compensate. Where we are now, ONLY coal can support the grid, but it seems people want to take coal away. Fine. The only current base load alternative is nuclear. Solar and wind will not cut it. Sure, some believe that maybe those two will, with batteries, ONE DAY. Well, when "one day" arrives let's do it. "One day" isn't here yet.

Take another look at the table I posted. The coal that China and India plan to rely on largely comes from..... HERE. We won't use it, but we are happy to sell it to people who will. Do you see any logic in that?

I have no issue with EVs, theoretically. They are probably the future. However, remember that "the future" is a long road, and nobody can see it.

Are you bringing an EV to Wombat Gav, or will you be enjoying your diesel heated luxury? Care to share? I wish there was a 'tongue in cheek' emoji. People tend to take me too seriously..

The other side of that argument is the health gains from switching from a vehicle which emits various nasties to one which emits nothing at all.
Vehicle emissions contribute to a very large number of deaths in this country and worldwide. Australia may be a big country, but we're packed into cities where air pollution is a real issue.
Every death from vehicle emissions we prevent saves a very large amount of money from not having to treat people for their health problems in the community, during home nursing and in hospital.
