Hi all,

I am travelling to the Big Red Bash in Birdsville from Melbourne (away JUL 10 to JUL 22).

Thought I would ask if anyone has a box or kit of emergency spare parts (for a 2015 D4 SE Diesel) that they travel with that they aren’t using at that time.

I would be happy to pay a bond, and a rental fee. I would obviously replace or fix you up for anything we ended up using.

Cheers,

Joe

Unless your heading out beyond Birdsville, I wouldn’t be too worried about taking any spares.

Get it serviced before you go. Most importantly make sure you have plenty of meat left on your brake pads and your tyres are in good condition and you’ll be fine.

I haven’t seen it since last year, but after all the flooding I suspect the Birdsville track will be in a bit of a state this year. Take it easy, drop your tyre pressures a bit and don’t be tempted to travel at the speeds the idiots do and the Disco will eat the trip.

Cheers,
Jon

Up here in Brisbane MR Automotive will make a spares kit which you pay for any items used when you return.
Maybe one of the Indies down your way may do the same.

My local dealer used to do kits for hire but when I enquired a couple of years ago, they said the later D4s are so reliable they don't offer them anymore.

Thanks Jon,

It got new tyres last week and is going in for a pre-trip service this week, so hopefully we will be all good.

We are taking five days on the way up and four on the way back and nothing too silly planned so will see how we go.

cheers,
Joe
